Does anyone know how I might find Billy McComb's half dyed hank routine, the one he was advertising and selling 6-8 years ago?

I saw it performed live in Stamford, Ct. He was brilliant and not too long after I remember seeing an ad in Genii and MAGIC selling the routine. I know there is a video or two out that shows his performance sans explanation.

I don't know if it is still available or not... However... If you really want to do the trick let me know. I have several sets of the silk bits, and you can get the "Rice Palmo" gimmicks (I think they are the best) from www.stevensmagic.com

Matter of fact, when McComb lost (stolen?) his set I supplied him with a couple of extra sets of the silks. (Gad I hate that term) Maybe I should say "silk handkerchiefs" ???

Anyway, if you have the Rice Enclyclopedia set of books on Silk Magic -- you will find a very early version creditied to Loyd Enochs, where a smaller part of the handkerchief "does not dye" -- and this I had looooooooooong before I learned the 1/2-Dyed from Billy... And I still use the original Enoch's dye tube along with the Palmo. I find that having two different shape gimmicks makes it easier to recognize one from the other.

I bought mine from Abbotts a few years ago. Perhaps they still carry it.

In the UK

http://www.pennywisemagic.co.uk/pm.htm advertised at Blackpool convention as being "official", "authorised" or "approved" supplier of the effect 18"silks and dye tube.

http://www.peterscarlett.com/html/produ ... on_44.html

Peter Scarlett of Pimpernel notecase fame sells set of 15" silks.
I can vouch for these as I own them.

Hi Folks,

Abbott's still manufactures this effect - from cutting, dyeing, and hemming the silks to making up the gimmicks. They've been making them for at least 20 years, and do a great job with their silks. Give them a call at 1-800-92-MAGIC.

Best,

FWIW After buying the routine from Abbotts I found the equipment (for lack of better words) a little uncomfortable for me to work with. My hands are a little smaller than average. So I ordered the proper silks but in lighter weight from a manufacturer (whose name escapes me right now) and I manufactered the gimmicks out of plastic tubing and flesh colored tape. The effect is still the same but the handling is so much easier.
