infos on a special cut and restored rope routine

Postby fabricemagic » March 2nd, 2017, 6:10 pm

Hi,
Just one question,
I have recently seen performed on tv one ropes routine,
What was different for me on that routine
was the way how the rope was cut in pieces
The performer was always creating loops on the rope and always restoring it (I never seen doing this before right in this way)
Of course I know basically how to perform the classic way of cut and restored rope but my question is:
who originated this way of cut a rope doing loops and restoring it?
Thanks

Read Rope Eternal or the Only Six Ways to Restore a Rope by Dariel Fitzkee. (1944 and 1957 for Tannen edition)

But in La Magie du Pont Neuf, a manuscript wirtten between 1643 and 1654, there is a method ( page 130) in which you can make several loops, cut them and instantanly restore the ribbon (because nobody used rope at this time).

I have seen a variant of this in an old(?) Linking Ring (in the eighteen or nineteen) but I don't remember which issue. I have to look for it.

Be patient...
