Originator of M-box move?

Postby Umpa Duze » February 7th, 2009, 6:28 pm

Hi All,
Sometime in the past I saw a performer present the M-box effect. He inserted his hands through the front and top simultaneously creating a beautiful illusion of transparency. Does anyone know who originated this move?

Thanks,
Umpa

It may very well be older, but Robert Harbin was doing a version of this display at least as early as 1956.

Hi, Thanks for that information. I have never seen that move in over forty years of watching magic, except for the one time I mentioned above. It is really a wonderful addition.

Thanks again,
Umpa

When S.S. Adams put out their cardboard M-Box, it was common for magic store demonstrators to insert their thumbs in the top and front doors, and wiggle them. That was the first time I saw it done, back in the 60's or whenever that box first appeared on the market.
