My Favorite is "Shuffling Off the Spots," by Bill Malone - It's on Volume 1 of his 3-volume DVD, "Here I Go Again." Technically, it is an all-backs and all-faces routine. Can be done anywhere, anytime, with any deck. Like most everything Bill does, in his hands, it looks like a MIRACLE, but it is well within the grasp of an intermediate card handler!

Same as Kelly Bottom Replacement, yes. I worked with Derek's routine and Darwin's too. Now I'm interested in the Quick 3-Way, which I always heard the guys talking about but never learned.

I wonder if anyone here is familiar with Bruce Cervon's All Backs routine in Ultra Cervon? Either I'm badly misreading the instructions, or there is a flaw after the third ace has been dealt face own on the table. Has anyone worked through this routine successfully?

TIA.

Rick

I've never seen anyone do it, and possibly for the reason you cite.

I rather like this version from my favourite performer:

You can see Bruce Cervon perform (and explain) his All Backs routine on his Ultra Cervon videos that he made with material from the book. That should clear it up.

I don't think many people are going to pay $70 for two downloads.

I guess this is heresy, but All Backs always looked to me, even before I knew much about card magic, exactly what it is--a bunch of face to face cards in different configurations. It never seemed magical to me at all.

You're not alone. The "printing" plot (more or less the same thing through a different lens) makes a lot more sense.
"The gnomes' ambition is handicapped by laziness." Adapted from Charles Bukowski, and clearly evident at http://www.gnominal.com

If you saw the reaction I get from laymen you would soon change your mind!

The reaction depends entirely upon the presentation. The sudden strange appearance of the deck has to be framed as a mistake of some kind, not as a magical event.

I tell them it is a trick deck I purchased from a magic shop.

I checked. There is no error in the procedure, even after the third ace, but you can make a little change for the final if you don't like Cervon's ending.

Incidentally, I reread Busby's small packet version. It's a good one and you can find it in The Chronicles No. 1, January 1978, page 1070.
