If you go to Ask Alexander, you will see this answer :

https://askalexander.org/search/%22Book ... Tricks%22/

Ergo, this book really exists BUT it's possible that it is now out of order.

And if you have The Potter Index (Volume 13, page 282), you can see that page 2, there is a trick named "What my Grandfather Said" indexed at Three Card Monte.

I'm very sorry but I haven't this book. So I can't send you the explanation of the trick. It's too bad!

I'm also sorry that you don't believe me as I'm a very serious man, extremely pernickety (as said Jon Racherbaumer).

Is the trick named after the old line about ending up with an ear full of cider?

The Trick was first marketed in 1934 by Frank Lane.
See The Linking Ring, Vol. 14, no 3, may 1934, page 236.

In Genii, January 1953, DARIEL FITZKEE in Paper and Ink, page 204, writes :

I am not sure, but I think I mentioned that Frank Lane's GRANDFATHER TRICK is again available through Weiner. $1.00 for the regular size and $2.00 in jumbo cards.

The two sentences M. Billot quotes are all that Genii had to say on the subject in January 1953. So, not a review but a mention, sorry!

And the Linking Ring in May 1934 has more to say but not much more illuminating:

" 'That's What My Grandfather Said' -- A very slick monte method with jumbo cards. These are held in the hand and freely shown at all times, yet the working is so easy it's a shame. The 'grandfather' patter doesn't do it any harm either."

Here is a picture of the manuscript itself, as sold by Potter & Potter a while ago.
