Looking For A Slum Magic Trick Instructions

Postby Steve Mills » November 29th, 2016, 1:45 pm

Still cleaning and moving and ran across one of my very first tricks. I believe I bought it at the state fair 50 or 60 years (damn!) ago.

I can't remember how the routine goes, but I do recall how gobsmacked I was when I saw it.

It's 2 rectangular pieces of cardboard. One of which has a magnet embedded (I do recall that there is a pin hole to determine which one.

There's also 2 cards the same value - one of which is attracted to the magnet. There is also an ordinary card of a different suit and value.

Can anyone, possibly, point me to instructions for this? I would like to do it just for fun.

Thanks.....
Steve

The trick you're looking for was Roydon's "Fantastic."

I wouldn't consider it slum magic. Check out Dick Zimmerman's routine, "Slightly Fantastic", in the September 1959 Genii.

It probably isn't slum magic. If it were I would have heard of it. It sounds a bit more advanced than that.
