The trick known as Mental Reverse (Spectator thinks of one of 4, 5 or 6 cards; the mental selection is the only reversed card in the pack) goes back I think to Horowitz, who used double backed cards, in a way that would probably still be effective today.
In Expert Card Technique, Zingone introduced a method using regular cards.
In The Cardician, Marlo had a couple of methods which owed a lot to Zingone.
Larry Jennings also had a few versions; eg Miracle in a Garcia publication, one in Richard's Almanac, and one in Best of Friends. All were based on Marlo techniques (although arguably the Shift he used was actually Braue's).
But he never gave credit to Marlo.
(But then, Marlo didn't gave credit to Zingone).
Did Jennings steal from Marlo? Marlo from Jennings? Or were they independent inventions?
OK; I'm sure there are lots of opinions, but is there anything factual?

Re: Larry Jennings and Mental Reverse
You have already stated who seems to have created the trick, so what do Marlo and Jennings have to do with it other than that they both created versions of the trick.

Re: Larry Jennings and Mental Reverse
You're right.
Even though Larry used Marlo techniques, it doesn't seem that Marlo applied these handlings to this effect.
