Turnantula

Postby Bob Farmer » December 4th, 2015, 8:52 am

I've never published the full manuscript for my move, "Turnantula." The move is a completely invisible sort of half Pass that can be used in a wide variety of applications.

Anyone who wants a copy can have one for free by sending me an email: trickmail@cogeco.ca

I give away better stuff than some people sell!

I've had a mountain of requests and they've all been sent.

Enjoy the move and the effects.

Working on the move, but struggling with it. The move still looks crappy in my hands.

Tom, even with Bob sitting next to me and teaching it to me, I had trouble getting it right. It's like Roy Walton's "Trigger" in that respect--there's something counter-intuitive about the action that is difficult to grasp.

If Bob makes a short video, I can post it on YouTube and set up a link to it.

Just about sums it up for me, too. Particularly the reference to Trigger.

Another hopeful vote for a helpful video. Or is that a helpful vote for a hopeful video? Either way! :-)

Same here, Bob. My brain is having trouble processing these instructions.

I remember a similar thing when I learned Roy Walton's Trigger move as well. In that case - seeing a clip of it on YouTube made all the difference.

I'm hopeless when it comes to video. I guess I could use my iPhone and shoot some video but then it would have to be edited and I can't do that. However, I'm happy to send the raw video to someone who actually knows what they're doing, then we could collaborate on a final cut and post that.

I know this is a very weird move to learn because it's so counter-intuitive. It makes absolutely no logical sense--in fact one guy I showed it to wanted to know how I had invented it. I couldn't tell him. Sometimes I can see things the way people will see them even though what I'm showing them is not in fact what they think they are seeing.

Bob, use your phone.
Upload the video to Hightail or Dropbox and send me a link.
I'll take care of the rest. :)

If I understand the first page of the move description correctly, there's a face up half pack under a face down half pack. Reading on - at the end of the maneuver you're holding a face up pack, 180 horizontal turnover, and the top half is now face up underneath. There's some wrist action to start. And a regrip of the packet that was on top. Here's where I'm getting stuck. My right hand has regripped the top half. The hands are together. My left wrist is bent inward. What to do next?

[play] I'm thinking a Phil Pack on top of a solid pack would be a killer app for this kind of open card handling. Then again I'm still dizzy from the twirling. What's that stuff folks take for motion sickness? [/play]

Thanks again Bob

Still working through the method, but it seems very comfortable to me at first. Probably because I am a fan of the Herrmann shift. More when I get a chance to dig deeper. My bigger paws seem to be a bit of an advantage...

Cheers, Bob!

You have a kind of visual dyslexia which enables you to think up these strange moves. That the rest of us have trouble picturing.

The video will be a great help!

Yep, that's got to be it: visual dyslexia or maybe dysvideo.

Recently dusted off the manuscript and was wondering if the video was posted on the forum?

Thanks in advance!

Turnantula and Gaffus Max

Postby Daniel Z » September 19th, 2017, 2:33 pm

Turnantula might be elusive but Gaffus Maximus has arrived. At least to my house. Thank you Mr. Farmer
