Anti Faro

Dani DaOrtiz and Christian Engblom have just relased a DVD !Que Raro! that teaches

the Anti-Faro.

In the Anti-Faro you spring the cards from hand to hand from a very short distance

and every other card jogs slightly. This allows you to strip out the jogged cards,

and essentially reverses the action of a Faro Shuffle.
It requires an odd knack.

Purely in the interests of completeness I feel I should bring your attention to Bastard Hard Moves made Easy, which teached the two handed, one handed and tabled faro shuffles.

Also, Chris Power's gambling dem (Opus Laid Back Too, the Director's Cut) uses a faro in one phase.

I like lists and love the faro shuffle so thanks for that. But it would be great to give the list a more meaningful design. What about ordering it by the last name of the creator instead of using multiple lists that are partially ordered?

Hi Denis.

Yes, when the list is getting full with stuff I will do a more detailed and logic list.
The point was to get help with my faro list.
First collect the fact, then do the database.

If yo have time Denis, just do a perfect list.
Its up to you or anyone else.

Remember, I must also practising all these faro effects to make them work out..that takes lot of time.

I use perfect faros in a lot of ace/king spelling routines. Nineteen of them in my One-Man Parade in Linking Ring Magazine, March, 1964(!) issue. (Good luck finding a copy.) I've published a few of them in my books over the years. I don't see any of them listed in the excellent list above. Many others of my faro effects are not listed. But it's an excellent list anyway. You can find some excellent faro card effects on Darwin Ortiz DVD: The Darwin Ortiz Lecture, International Magic, London.

Beyond Collecting - Three cards are selected and lost in the deck. The four aces then magically appear face up in the deck. A moment later, the selections materialize between the aces.

Passing Through - For of a kind are lost in one half of the deck which is shuffled by a spectator. The performer turns the other half face up. He then shuffles the two halves together, pushing on half through the other. the four of a kind are now found together, face down in the middle of the face up half, having been caught in the process.

Hard Target - Two spectators select cards and return them to the deck. (Both the process of selecting the cards and losing them in the deck is exceptionally fair.) The performer shuffles the two red jacks into the deck and traps the selection between them. He then tosses the jacks into the deck and catches the second selection between them.

Thanks for listing ULTIMATE TRANSPOSITION from Apocalypse, but - it doesn't use Faros!? But, most of my books do contain a LOT of Faro work; especially see The Second 16th Card Books Vols. 1 & 2. (Vol 1 authored with Tom Craven.)

I use the Straddle Faro a lot, too!!
