All:
I want to do a routine where I have a waxed double card where the wax holds them together, but the cards are easily spread when I want them to.
I've read that certain wax ear plugs work nicely for this, but haven't been able to find a specific brand that works well in the US. I've also tried the wax that Michael Ammar used to sell, but it seems too sticky for this purpose.
Does anyone please have any suggestions about a suitable wax product in the US that would fit the bill? (I suppose I could use Science Friction, but I don't want to spend that much $ for this application).
Many thanks in advance for your help!

If you try clear plasti dip I think you will find it has identical properties to Science Friction.
$13 will get you a can delivered to your door step.

I've had good results using Harry Robson's Roughing Stick:

Thanks, guys: I should have mentioned, for part of the trick, I need to be able to drop the waxed cards on the table and not have them spread. I tried the chapstick--not quite sticky enough.

As Bob said the Plasti-Dip works really closely to Science Friction. Also Zig glue pens work well, and it's much more portable for a touch up.

Harry Robson's Roughing Stick is wonderful. I just duplicated what you want, tossed two roughed pairs to the table. They did not spread, looked just like two cards. But they then easily spread at my touch. (I saw the amazing Howard Hamburg do this at Magi-fest WITHOUT, so far as I know, any added substance.)

Great! Thanks--I'll hunt down and try those suggestions.
