Help with The Fine Art of Magic

Postby MartinKaplan » August 26th, 2014, 3:05 pm

I do not have a copy of The Fine Art of Magic here with me in Spain. I am in need of a page reference where the following is said:

The Art of Magic George Kaplan*8 points out that any unusual object you may use in a trick can attract your audience’s interest. Examples: a pendulum, an unusually shaped wooden magic wand, a good luck charm, etc.

I need the page reference for a footnote for a book I am proofreading.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Do you know what chapter it might be in? I'm skimming through my copy and getting that needle in a haystack feeling.

I gave it a pretty decent look over and couldn't find the reference you are looking for; I even read over the piece with a woman's panties. No luck.

I've been digging, as well. Can't seem to find what you're looking for.

Thanks to all of you who have responded both publicly and privately. The primary translator got in touch with the publisher of the Spanish version of the Kaplan book and it seems that the reference to unusual objects comes from a magazine article that Kaplan published. We are trying to track down the name and date of the magazine. If we are successful, I will post an update here.

I too started rooting around in my copy of "The Fine Art of Magic" searching for the above quoted reference..........................must have spent hours stuck in it last night.

Didn't find the required reference but instead I found a TREASURE trove of useful information and loads and loads of GEMS.

Many Thanks for setting me on that journey into what is a wonderful and awe inspiring Aladdin's cave of wonders.

Cheers from The Emerald Isle of Ireland,

John Bowden.

The trick "Card, Crystal Ball, and Panties" includes the memorable instruction "Finally, shake hands with him and give him the panties to keep as a souvenir of the occasion."

Every time someone has handed me a pair of panties it's always been a memorable occasion.

Especially if they've just done a trick. :)

A toast, to the next best thing to panties.

Sorry, irresistible.

Sorry again.
