Maybe not a camera trick or an editing trick, but most certainly a post-production trick.

Lord knows I don't know everything (to say the least), but I am going to go out on a limb here with 3 words at a total of 4 sylables: crock o' hooey. (That's the nicest way I have of saying it...)

P.S. Chris Angel never uses stooges.

Of course, you're right, castawaydave.
As I said, this is unquestionably a post-production effect.
He's playing a semantics game by saying that it's not a "camera" or "editing" trick. Those may very well both be true statements.
That, however, does not mean that it's not a compositing trick. Anyone with a copy of Shake, After Effects or Motion, or even a more basic compositor could do this in a matter of minutes.

Yeah...a camera trick...watch the front edge of the deck and see the light change slightly as the changes happen. Just some guy using trick photography instead of skill.

Is this supposed to be somebody's Adobe Premier class homework?

Thanks, Guys -

You've confirmed my notion. Now if any of us can learn to do this one... 8-) FISM!

This can't be sleight of hand because the guy can hardly shuffle the cards without dropping them.
