I've seen Will perform this trick a number of times and it looks truly amazing, especially when he throws the coin over. It is part of his new DVD set Modern Magic.

Re: Will Houston Coins Across
Thanks for posting this, Q. Very enjoyable--very strong magic.
The one thing I noticed: he does this mannerism that a lot of folks do. That is, he holds his off hand (allegedly empty) fixed at waist level with his elbow bent. For some reason, it just stuck out to me in this clip.
Just for fun I looked up lots of candid photos of people on the web to see how often presumed "normal" people do this with an empty hand. I found extraordinarily few(Obviously not a scientific study)
It, of course, doesn't mean it's a bad position/stratagem (as long as it's natural for the performer, it shouldn't stick out). It's just an observation.

Wow! That was beautiful. Love that illusion where he flips the coin in the air. Very nice. I've never heard of this gentleman. Is he considered a "coin man"?

Will has also won several competitions for his magical skills.
Erdnsasephile: Remember that when you are watching a video, the frame is narrow so a pose such as the one you describe, which looks natural in a wider context, can look unnatural. It would be less than instructive to change this for the video.

I like that he brought the open toss feint up to the fingertips. I learned that bit from Geoff Latta. (Is there a prior credit on it?) Kudos to him for getting that working comfortably in performance. Bravo and also thanks to Hoffmann's book for getting us started on that track with coins.
