Earle, the book is by Treborix and it's called "Diversions with dice".

Another classic is Bobby Bernard's "School for Croupiers" routine in Ganson's "Art of Close up Magic", and the Ganson Teach in Series booklet on dice stacking. There are a few more dice stacking references in Apocalypse, but I'll have to look these up (eg, I think there is a Randy Wakeman reference).

Bye for now

Harold

"Diversions with Dice" by Treborix is a translation of "Fantaisies avec les ds jouer". There's no publication date, but mention is made of performances at conventions in 1947 and 1948, and of the original edition being published by Mayette.

There's also "Dice Dexterity" by Audley Walsh (Tannen 1953), which has a lot about stacking.

Karl Fulves' "Close-Up Folio No. 11" (1978) is devoted to dice and dice stacking, and is reproduced in the bound edition of "Chronicles".

Fred Lowe's Dice Stack is explained in "Pallbearers' Review", December 1974.

And Bob Ostin had a Corner-to-Corner Dice Stack (using a fake) in his lecture notes "Sleightly Surprising", reprinted in the recent "Bob Ostin - A lifetime of magical inventions".

In the early 1990s I saw an Austrian magician called Gerry who did a superb routine with dice stacking. I don't know if any of it is published anywhere.

Just remembered another one:

"Ds: dcapitages, ramassages" by Jean-Roger Torrs

This was in the Magix Unlimited 1986/87 catalogue, though it doesn't seem to be on their website now.

Jerry Camaro had some nice stuff on stacking but don't know if published.

Some years ago at FISM a guy stacked bigger and bigger dice winding up with a big tin trash can.

Spanish magician Camillo does one of the greatest routines and won FISM Close Up with his work.

Davenport used to sell a set of dice, when stacked the top one would rotate, thanks to a rubber band inside the stack.

If you ever see Pat Page ask him about the gag he does where his fellow magician CAN NOT STACK no matter how hard he tries.
:D

Gerry has a video called Extrme Dice Stacking. I believe he is the one that Pete was referring to, seing as he stacks using a trash can. He also does some other absolutely phenomenal work that must be seen. I don't know whether there are any versions of his work in print. Incidentally, the video is dubbed from German and available on DVD through Meir Yedid.

For a quick overview of dice stacking, you might want to check out:

In addition, you might want to check out Dollar Tree for a little dice game called Dice Time....

Don't forget Barry Govan's Dice Stacking Routine.
The best I've seen.
