Where you can talk about methods...

Postby Guest » March 11th, 2003, 8:22 pm

I have established a non-public forum where
Pasteboard Enthusiasts can discuss and hash
over methodology with no fear of exposure to
the general public.

If you wish to join the discussion, please
e-mail me at: syouell@realanswers.org

This forum is not designed to compete with the
excellence of the Genii Forum, it's just that
I've always been a little nervous about discussing
methods in an open forum....

I see no reason we can't discuss methodology here and I encourage it! I think that paranoia about laymen reading sites like this to learn magic is uncalled for.
Laymen absolutely cannot follow the text of magic instructions.

Ha! Magicians absolutely cannot follow the text of a magic book. That's where we get improvements from.

I certainly hope I did not offend you, Sir! I understand that you encourage people to discuss methodology on this board-- some of us just prefer to do it behind closed doors (firewalls).

Again, no offense meant...

Richard's right. The old saying, "if you want to keep a secret, publish it in a book," applies to the written word on the Internet, too.

People just don't read. Doesn't matter whether it's in a pamphlet, a book, or a web site. If there aren't any pictures, nobody who lacks sincere motivation will figure it out.

Pete, you are sooooooooooooooo right. Denny's was built for magicians. I remember 10-12 years ago in KC going to Denny's after a magic meeting. I can't tell you how many times we drank coffee, flipped cards and literally saw the sun coming up in the morning. That was usually our sign to go home or to work.

Pete, maybe we're old school. In an age of technology, learning tools have changed. Most now prefer to learn by video or dvd. Most now enjoy communicating via internet. Give me a good old fashioned book and a meeting at Denny's anyday!

Remember to pay his bill?!? Shoot, if Pete let me know which Denny's and when, *I'd* pay his bill. Not having been on or near the west coast for the 'good ol' days,' I missed all the fun.

ONE night at the Denny's in Walnut Creek, CA., an assistant mgr. got crazy and literally threw Steve, et al out for "having cards out"... Steve got in touch with the area manager and after explaining what we were doing, suddenly we were MORE THAN WELCOME as customers loved the crazy gags and magic we were doing....

Yeah, I remember that. I called corporate HQ and threatened a "national boycott" by all magicians... :D

I still don't understand why this worked...

Man, you really know how to pull off the kidd gloves, don't you? Gosh, imagine if several dozen magicians all boycotted at once. The horror! No wonder they toed the line :p
