Can anyone tell me what this is? Or where I might find it?
It's old - by Hardin.
Thanks

Re: Divination of the Nile
There's a whole bunch of references to it in Ask Alexander. Are you a member of CARC? There's stuff in Conjurors' Magazine, Jinx, Stewart James in Print: The First 50 Years, The big Annemann book L&L did, etc.

El Mystico, are you at least a Genii subscriber? If so, you'll have free access to the Conjurer's Magazine as well as Genii via AskAlexander.
Hmmmm... The explanation for Robert Hardin's improvement for Divination of the Nile, which begins on page 39 in the Dec 1945 issue of the Conjurer's Magazine, is missing from the AskAlex archive... Scans of pages 40-41 appear to be absent. Secrets remain secret!

No; I had to let my subscription go, along with a lot of other things....
However - I do have the big Annemann book, and it is in there; so - thank you!

Re: Divination of the Nile
Oops, sorry, I misnamed Henry Hardin there...
For folks awaiting the DeLand book, flipping backwards in the Conjurer's Magazine (Nov 1945, pp. 36-8,59), there's an article by Walter Gibson called "DeLand's Greatest Card Creation."

Re: Divination of the Nile
Gibson wrote a series in The Conjurers Magazine about Hardin's creations.

Re: Divination of the Nile
Yes, the series on Hardin's tricks begins in Sept 1945, p. 22. Each month several effects are described, with the readers being allowed to ponder them for 30 days before the explanations are published a month later.
Wow, so much crazy stuff. The first issue (Feb 1945) contains a full page ad by Hardeen trying to sell off major illusions: Harry Kellar's Spirit Cabinet, Houdini's Overboard Box, Charles Morritt's original Disappearing Donkey (though he spells it Morret, if anyone wants to search)...

Re: Divination of the Nile
I assume because it didn't come up in the search, that Gibson doesn't describe Divination of the Nile. He never finished either the DeLand or Hardin series, which is a shame.

Re: Divination of the Nile
Try searching again. Divination of the Nile yields the results I posted above: the effect is teased in Nov 1945; Hardin's method explained in Dec 1945. But scanned pages 40-41 from Dec 1945 are missing, and that's where most of the Hardin method explanation is.
Re: Divination of the Nile
I provide some historical background in the explanation section of the Nothing DVD set, clarifying some credits. At the moment, I'm thousands of miles away from home, so I do not have access to the disc or a player -- but if someone wants to transcribe that information and post it here, it's fine with me.
