Ambitious card where you bend the card

Postby Steve Cobb » October 8th, 2010, 2:55 pm

Was wondering if anyone knows who came up with the idea of bending the card in an Ambitious card routine, where it comes to the top. I think David Blaine did this way back when on one of his specials. Was this published anywhere? Thank you in advance!

It was published as "The Pop-Up Card" in "Expert Card Technique" by Jean Hugard and Frederick Braue (1940)

Steve,

If you are working on creating an Ambitious Card routine, try to dig up a copy of Daryls Ambitious Card Omnibus (Hermetic Press, 1987). Its out of print, but occasionally comes up for sale.

In the meantime, you can check the Close-Up Card Magic section in Lorayne: The Classic Collection, Volume 1. HL.

Did it come out better the second time?! I don't get it, but then I really am a lousy computer person! Best - hl.

I love that ending to the ambitious card routine. It's so visual and magical that the audience, even kids, reacts strongly. Sometimes I'll have a child pretend they're pulling a string above the card and time the release so it looks like they are making it happen. The look on their face is priceless!
