David Lederman

Postby degrisy » April 18th, 2015, 4:47 pm

David Lederman was one of the earliest experts in micromagic. He carried a 45-minute closeup magic act in his pocket. See magicpedia: http://www.geniimagazine.com/magicpedia/David_Lederman

Now I would like to know if someone can describe this close up act from the pocket or at least recall the effects he used. Thank you.

I knew Dave well. He was quite a curmudgeon! But I cannot recall his material. George Schindler might remember.

I got to know Dave quite well in the mid-late 1980s when he was living in suburban DC. He was friendly (as was his wife) and most generous and helpful. I can't speak to what Dave was like in his younger years, but curmudgeon is the last word I would describe how he treated me and others with a serious interest in magic.

I never saw him do his act, but he showed me his mini-close up case once. If memory serves, he had the props for doing some sort of thimble-rigging routine, a version of the Londono torn and restored thread, flash-cash, and his version of Smyth's Myth.

Perhaps "curmudgeon" was the wrong word.
