Peter Pellikaan??

Postby Don Hendrix » October 12th, 2014, 4:45 pm

Does anyone have any information about Peter Pellikaan? There are some videos still on Youtube, but his website appears to be gone. I am wondering if there is still a source for his downloads or any other material by him. Thanks for any info.

There's a startling moment in the trick where cards all go blank and get real holes - very tempting.

Holy high-heeled Hoover! That's one of the most amazing card effects that I've ever seen!

We definitely saw two backs. What the hair-raising hell happened to them??

I bow deeply and drool.

Ouch! I wasted my youth on packet tricks, but they were nothing like that. The video is titled 2014 and the trick appears to be taught on volume 8 of the DVDs available at pellikaanmagic.com.

Rather awkwardly, individual DVDs can only be purchased by selecting the Contact link in the upper left. Sets are sold separately, but they are not compiled on one page. Unless my tablet is playing tricks, each time the Offers link is selected, a different combination appears, either 1-5, 6-8 or 1-8. This is an example of poor web design possibly deterring purchases.

If you go to this link: http://www.pellikaanmagic.com/a-3847816 ... /volume-1/ you can then click on the right arrow near the top right to page through the different things on offer. You can buy the DVDs singly if you want.

If you watch his Cannibal Cards routine on Vol.5 (performance on the site) you can see the way he thinks: like Brother Hamman, massive visual illogicalities are being used. In the packet trick with the holes in the card they fly (can't figure it out), but the Cannibal Cards is easily figured out because the visual illogicality doesn't work--on the contrary, it reveals the method.

It might be just me, but the method for the holes in the card trick seems really obvious...

I met up with Peter in Blackpool last February, late night at the Ruskin. He is an amazing worker, and I bought one of his DVD sets from him. He showed me a bunch of his stuff (Pelli Count, etc.) and I tried to entice Andi Gladwin over to take a look, but Andi was reluctant for some reason. I thought Peter might be a good person to have at the Session, but what do I know. The Pelli Count accomplishes what Bro. Hamman's Gemini Count does, but without the pulling off of the bottom card to begin. He's also got great work with Super Roughing.

Fritz ("with a Z") Alkemade was working on a book of Peter's material, but I don't know where it stands.

Fritz wrote (on The Second Deal) that Peter was having some problems a few months ago. More than that I don't know. I love his work.

Thanks, will see about obtaining one of his DVDs. The Pelli Count? - might be a catchy name there. :) Agreed about exploring what starting the count from a reversed hand position can do - especially when going for the Hamman/Gemini Twins Count display. Bob Farmer also has work on such counts.

From the sound of his voice, he seems like he's in his 80s!

I'd judge him to be late '40s, early '50s, but a heavy smoker.

His website is up now, and he offers a lot of stuff. I ordered one DVD. I'll try to review it after it arrives. I bought one thing from lybrary.com and am reluctant to order any other single items until I see what is on the DVD.
