Shin Lim's The Switch

Postby jrd3 » August 9th, 2017, 6:15 pm

The Steven's Magic add for The Switch states that the video demo looks exactly like the effect "in real life". I've watched the demo film multiple times and there appears to be a possible edit at around 1:08 minutes just at the point a possible switch could be made. That would still make the add true I suppose if there is effective misdirection at those close quarters in real life. Let me know what you think, especially if you've seen Shin LIm perform this trick in the flesh at close quarters.

Below is the link to view The Switch. However I am reaching out to any magician who has witnessed a live performance of this Shin Lim trick. Does the trick really look like "real magic"?

Looks interesting. He's either doing a Mercury Card Fold or faking it to throw magicians off. The latter part of the video where he touches the folded card and it changes is cool. Would like to see it in person.

I thought this might be what you were writing about. There are over 30 pages (!) of reviews over at TMC from 2014. A lot of people really liked it; probably more positive comments than negative.
