I was actually thinking about your idea over lunch today, along with McCabe's comments. Just wanted to pass along yet another avenue along your plot-line to the T&R premise.
As you are reminiscing over the ex-girlfriend and bring-up and share the fond memories with the audience, naturally this is where the restoration/reconstruction process comes into play. However, once the restoration is complete there is a long uncomfortable silence. A change in demeanor and facial expression begins to show as old sweet memories quickly turn into the ones you would rather not discuss and bring up. But alas, the emotions have already made their turn for the worse and you poetically rip the picture up all over again, ending with how you started: torn pieces, a broken heart, and a desire to segue into your next piece.
