"Rare" books!

Postby George Olson » July 1st, 2008, 1:01 pm

Powells Books, one of the largest in the World, here in Portland has a number of Rare books: I know they bought a copy of Canicks Price list a few years ago to judge prices. But if youre a little broke ;=}} try these prices on for size:

Just a little heads up....

The hardback copy of 100 YEARS OF MAGIC POSTERS is actually reasonably priced at just $400. It is very hard to find in that edition, which was for libraries and schools. Even the paperback edition seems to fetch 100 when complete (many copies have posters removed that the owners hung on their walls).

I physically have seen these books at 2 of the Powell's locations. If I had the money, I would get them. But they will be a treasure in someones collection someday. It is odd to go into a book store and see inner circle magic books that you would only see in a magic shop. Infact right now, powells carries more magic books than the portland magic shop does! I saw the Larry Jennings book, I think they wanted $400 bucks. Also right now there are a few of our good late friend, Jerry Andrus', books and manuscripts for sale at powells. Some autographed.

Two locations Brian? Last time I was in town I only checked in at the main store. I thought the second location was only technical books.

They have one in the SouthEast area, and a big one in Beaverton.

Brian, good to see you on board!
