David,

You are an amazing performer and writer, this new book of yours is very entertaining, and clearly written. I have not picked out any favorites yet, as I am sure I will as I continue reading, this book is just full of wonderful effects and gives it's readers so very much good material to think about and play with, and of course, Thank you for signing my "Brodarted" copy while visiting Magic Apple towards the tail end of your time there.

Sincerely,

Scott Peterson

I think it's a term for those plastic (i.e. mylar) book covers.

That reminds of a funny story.
One day I was sitting with Adam Fleischer in New York (Jeez, 25 years ago) and he was talking about Zombie, and said he would place a foo-lard over the ball.

I said, "A foo what?"

He said, "A foo-lard."

I replied, "I didn't know a chinese pig had anything to do with the Zombie."

A few things:

I've done a couple of lectures exclusively on stuff from the new book, and it's already been rewarding - some of the most fun I've ever had (that involves magic). I'll be lecturing in the coming weeks in Chicago, Minniapolis, England and France. I don't do big tours, as I'm too freaking old to push suitcases from place to place, but I do love to lecture, so if you live in those parts shoot me an email or PM and I'll let you know more.

I just unpacked a book with a very slightly dinged corner. If someone wants it for half price plus postage, PM me.

I went to The Castle the other day and was thrilled to see a magician doing a trick from the book. When you start doing stuff from the book, let me know. You don't have to post here, you can shoot me an email. I just like to know, what can I say?

David, Just so you don't get the locals riled up that would be Minneapolis.

We're looking forward to a great little convention with you, Gregory Wilson, John Bannon, Francis Menotti, George Tovar, and Dan Fleshman.

David Regal is the man. The freakin' man. Best darned magic book I have seen/read/loved in a very, very long time.

The book isn't Approaching Magic, it is Magic.

With the new book/lecture, product sales, DVD's, Magic Castle award nominations, cover of Genii, product reviewer in Genii and Reel Quarterly, and now Celebracadabra winner, David is indeed the King of All Magic Media.

Mr. Regal,

do you have any plans of approaching Germany magically some time in the future? I think it would be deeply appreciated!

Oh, and you may sell quite some books over here - with "Regal" meaning "shelf" in German...

I'd love to visit Germany, if there are people who want to bring me over. I just came back from England and in September I go to France.

Why don't you book a lecture in September, since you'll be there anyway? That way, our German friends can save on the airfare.

That would make good sense, had I sense. When I got the booking in France I immediately bought my plane tickets, and no one had asked me to lecture in Germany at that point. My life is generally chaos. My lecturing system is this: Someone contacts me and asks if I'm free. I look at my datebook and, if I'm free, I say "okay." Then my wife looks at me with disapproaval. That's also how I start every day.

That would explain the shouts of "Jim!" when my wife and I are intimate.

Sorry, but I was there (for too short a visit) a few weeks ago. I went to see Andy Nyman's performance and was able to squeeze in a lecture. It was a terrific trip - Andy was fabulous. Had I more time I'd have loved to hang out with the guys. Very nice people. I'll be in France last week of September at the big convention.

Very pleased that you're enjoying the book!

Does anyone on the Forum know Mr. Brad Micholson? I sent him a book back on June 30th - to Winnipeg - and it just came back to me, stamped a million times over. I'd like to contact him but I'm having trouble finding an email address.

Thanks.

A Google search of "Brad Micholson Winnipeg" results in a hit on Facebook (which I can't view since I'm not a member). I suspect that if it's him there's a PM or e-mail function.

Anyone on FaceBook should be able to open this:
