Cards with slots

Postby S. Tauzier » July 15th, 2016, 5:54 pm

Hello, Im trying to find which issue in the last few years had an article about cutting slots in the playing cards so that when you turn them they change position in a fan of cards. Does anyone recall this article from few years ago?

It sounds like you are describing Angelo Carbone's marketed trick "Out of Order."

... which is Angelo's intellectual property and has been copied without permission by magic dealers around the world.

Not sure if it's the same thing I saw. From what I remember the person that wrote the article went on to show how cutting the slots with different angles and by adding more cards, a card could move around to different locations in the fan. I could swear it was maybe in Loadstones or something. It wasnt presented like a trick, more like a discovery or experiment. Was within the last two or three years.

I remember reading once that the MAKE: magazine special devoted to magic had an article exposing 'Out of Order' by Angelo Carbone.

Also - there is this article on Martin Gardner that also teaches the principle. It seems to be taken from the same magazine. And possibly the same issue.

How can I make contact with Angelo Carbone? I would like to purchase a few sets of "Out of Order" and would prefer to get them from him directly. I did this a few years ago but lost his email address.
