Eugene Burger - 2 effects - help me find them again

Postby magicbar » October 12th, 2013, 12:58 pm

Hi All,
I'm trying to find two effects from Eugene Burger. One was in a Magicana and was a 3 coin in the hand prediction Using a quarter and dime in a magician's force scenario. What issue ? thx. Not a new effect but Eugene offered his take on it. [the effect appeared in Genii prior to Eugene printing his thoughts] Basically, the spectator makes a prediction of the final coin revelation [varies due to magician choice]. Uses a nickel, dime and quarter and equivoque.

2nd is Eugene's Out of this World explanation. I had the video and may still have it. I liked his version due to the chance involved that dispels probable method. What video? maybe you could help me refresh my memory too on the procedures.

thx in advance.

Okay Magicbar--both of the effects you're looking for are in Eugene's DVD Exploring Magical Presentations. You can pick up a copy here:

How's that?

I believe you're referring to Eugene's version of Fading Coin by Tomoyuki Takahashi.

Fading Coin by Takahashi was described in http://geniimagazine.com/magicpedia/Genii_2000_May

Lovely. It strikes me as slightly more effective if you put away two coins in two steps. That is, suppose the quarter is named. After placing "it" in your left hand, pick up the "nickel" with your right and pocket it, ditching the real penny. Then openly pick up the "penny" and place it in your pocket. I like this better than putting away two coins at once. (I haven't seen Eugene's version; perhaps he already thought of this.)

Yes, I think Fading Coin is the effect [that I also believe was in one the old pulp/Gardner type books] but I am looking for the Eugene Burger comments in his issue or [an] issue that came a few months later because I remember him opening with a comment on how this guy's effect was a 'sleeper' effect and then gave his presentation [which I seek].

Thanks to all who replied. I probably had to clarify that.
I await the next replies, if any.

thanks ~ sj
