In regards to Shrdinger's Coin, I have always believed that quantum physics and magic had a great deal in common. I am not sure how many of us understood the reference. Nice trick, anyway. The same principle is involved in a somewhat recently marketed effect that instead of relying upon dim lighting uses a semi-transparent cloth to cover coins on a mat.

Ideas abound.

Just a small adjustment to your hand position when you turn your hand palm toward the audience the first time - and a slight finger bend... the wise ones will think you've put the coin there.

I have one of the Blackout coins, which I bought for this trick. It's great—the beveled edge is a big plus.

This trick got the best reaction I've ever received. (Keep in mind I am not a pro.) Standing at the main bar in the Castle with Bill Goodwin and Shawn McMaster. A woman who didn't get in to the close up show came up and asked if we could do a trick for her. She was nice. So Shawn and Bill did amazing tricks from their repertoires, and—against all reason, I closed this show—I pulled out my black-art coin.

When I did the first turnover—where you show that the coin is vanished from the other side—the woman's face went completely blank. Everything shut down, like her facial expressions just stopped updating. The change was amazing to see. Now the rest of the routine: the coin is still there on the first side, gone on the other side, blow, now it's gone on both sides.

When I blew to show the coin completely gone, her head snapped like she had been slapped, and her face turned back on, resumed having an expression, and she returned to this world. It was like she was just waking up from a dream.

I'm sure any pro has seen this many times, but for me it was quite an unforgettable moment.

I really enjoyed reading your description of the spectator's reaction.

A magical moment that neither she nor you will ever forget.
