Garcia Flys Under Radar!!

I have been with Genii for about four maybe five years. I always go from cover to cover in each magazine. When I see tricks discussed or taught in magicana, it's either a complete,no way, or that's nice it just doesn't fit me.
Well, that was not the case in the Dec. issue. As soon as I read Daniel Garcia's trick I knew THIS IS FOR ME! This is a "WORKERS" kind of trick.
I'm surprised no one has said anything about this.
Brief explanation and why I like:
1. You talk about the thin line between past, present and future. You set one card on the table. With deck of cards in hand, volunteer picks a card and signs it. They place it back in deck. You talk about how the future came at the beginning, you turn over the card that has been on the table...IT'S THEIR SIGNED CARD!!
2. There are sooooo many reasons why I like this trick.
a. There is NO SET-UP. You can start from a shuffled deck in use. A big plus for me!
b.You have a BUILT IN THEME that is interesting and somewhat intelligent, not...ok let's pretend this card is a monster and this card is blah, blah, blah or expecting everyone to know what a good "hand of cards" looks like.
c. NO GIMMICKS, PURE SLEIGHT OF HAND. Just a personal preference. I believe this trick is a wonderful lesson in the craft of magic . You employ skill in a card reverse, double lift, get- ready, break, double under-cut, buckle, timing, misdirection, eye-contact, and the gamblers move. This trick is everything that I like about magic. It's simple and to the point.
d. There is really no angle problems at all.
e.Your volunteer keeps the card for helping...great marketing!
I am saying all this because I perform it now four nights out of the week in a restaurant setting. I have everyone from a group of adults, clans of "emo's" , or questioning ten year olds. When I turn over their signed card, there is an amazing stunned silence(two beats) THEN you hear "what tha!" or "How tha!" ....as a performer it's SOOOOOO satisfying.
So THANK YOU Daniel for being so generous to release not only a great trick, but one that could be served greatly as "basic training" in the art of sleight of hand magic!
