Press Release
BOOK NOW FOR LEADING MAGIC CONVENTION..

MAGIC professionals and the most ardent of fans will have the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business at one of the UK’s most popular events.

South Tyneside International Magic Festival (STIMF) returns to South Shields on the North East coast from 16-19 March 2017, offering three days of lectures, workshops and performances.

Magicians from America, Asia and across the UK will converge at The Customs House theatre for the 14th annual event, aimed purely at professional magicians and enthusiasts, giving them an opportunity to learn and share best practices in magic.

The weekend will feature exclusive performances from a host of leading magicians and illusionists, a dealer’s showcase, discussion sessions, talks, a one trick competition and discussions.

American stars including Mahdi Gilbert, Asi Wind and Adam Wilber will be joined by Singapore sensation Ning: Mind Magic Mistress plus a selection of top British acts including Simon Hannah, Kennedy, Mark James and Michael Murray.

Ahead of the weekend will be a two-hour masterclass (priced at an extra £60 per person) from film maker and master of deception R Paul Wilson, on Thursday 16 March, before the main event starts on Friday morning.

This is set to include three packed days of workshops, as well as three public magic performances and a screening of R Paul Wilson’s ‘Our Magic’ documentary film with a question and answer session.

A further two masterclasses hosted by Mahdi Gilbert and Asi Wind will be held on the Sunday evening, at a further cost.

The 14th annual STIMF has been organised by South Tyneside Council and magician Steve Gore of West Yorkshire, who has been responsible for booking the acts for the first time this year.

“This convention has long been regarded as one of the most important on the UK’s magic calendar, and I am proud to be involved in such a high profile function,” he said.

“It has become renowned as the place to go if you’re looking to learn from the best, and we have been working hard to secure some of the best magicians in the world to come and share their wealth of knowledge with the budding stars of tomorrow.

“Delegates regularly fly in for this event from all over the world, and we have a limited number of tickets so I would encourage anyone who is thinking about coming to buy one now before they sell out.”

Magicians wishing to attend the convention can book their places now. Tickets cost £65 and are available by calling Karri Prinn on 0191 424 7986 or by emailing karri.prinn@southtyneside.gov.uk.

A slight inaccuracy there. Mahdi Gilbert is not an "American Star". He most certainly does not hail from the Excited States. Different country entirely.

Furthermore I lived in Geordieland at one time. I rather think the convention committee should hire an interpreter for the American visitors to understand the accent.

You ought to offer your services Mark. Suppose an American magician hears a pitch for the classic "Coops and Bulls" routine, only to realise after paying too dearly that no livestock is included. Bad joke, I know, but I couldn't resist the urge! Glad to see that you are still going strong. I am not ashamed to say that you are the main reason that I visit the Genii Forum these days. Your words are always a delight, and I truly believe that those that find you annoying are suffering from the envy of your long experience and great wisdom.

I apologise for my tardiness in not responding to this. Alas for some reason I only just came across it. I must have missed it. I thank you for your kind words and naturally I can only say that I agree with every word you say, particularly your last sentence.
