IBM Ring 43 Presents

Friday, September 15th • 7:30 p.m.
St. Francis Hospital
355 Ridge Ave.
Evanston

You might recognize David Parr from his appearance on the hit TV show Penn & Teller: Fool Us. David Parr is also the creator and costar of Chicago’s longest-running magic show, The Magic Cabaret, now celebrating its tenth anniversary!
Among magicians, David is best known for his theatrical performing style and his writing and teaching skills. He is the author of several very well-regarded books for magicians and, for a decade or so, David was a featured columnist, proofreader, and editor for MAGIC Magazine. David has provided guidance and instruction to magicians around the world, including at Hollywood’s prestigious Magic Castle, and in a Penguin Live online lecture. He has also released a number of his inventions to the magic market, including A Game of Life & Death, Proof Positive, 7 Sins, and Slow-Motion Swindle. His latest offerings are Paper Prophecies, an ebook in which he teaches three amazing prediction effects that can be performed with special props printed directly from the book’s pages, and Brain Food: Gourmet Edition, an updated digital version of his highly acclaimed first book!

From mentalism, cards, bill transpositions, bank night to origami, David does it all. The lecture will feature effects from his highly acclaimed books and marketed effects.

“These are perfect lessons, for all magicians, in how careful thinking really can improve our magic.”
— Eugene Burger

“The material in Paper Prophecies is charming, memorable, and fun to do. The plots and props will intrigue your audience. If you decide to let your audience keep the props, they will have a token of their experience that they will cherish for a long time to come.”
— Arthur Trace, MAGIC Magazine

“I have been out so many times with nothing in my pockets except pocket change. If you’ve got that, and you’ve got two minutes, and you’ve got a table, you can do an absolutely brilliant little piece.”
— Joshua Jay
