Anyone from Ontario, Canada?

Postby Sir Ross » May 8th, 2007, 12:23 pm

I was interested in finding other amateur magicians in Ottawa area to get together with infrequently.

Hi Ross,

There is a fantastic club in Ottawa, Ring 151. They've had some great lecturers (including some through me, such as Allan Ackerman and Darwin Ortiz) and a great bunch of guys.

Feel free to email me at magic@bentrain.ca if you have any questions!

Ross,

Check out the website to the Ottawa IBM Ring: www.ottawamagic.com

You will find a bunch of great guys that meet there twice a month.

You need to be invited before you can show up. Send an email to the President, or better yet the Treasurer (he is our host).

Our Ring has been called one of the most knowledgeable due to the high calibre of members.

I even drop-in every now and then ;)

Thanks!

I just took a quick look at the website and will contact and hopefully avail myself of the group's kindness come autumn when regular meetings resume.

Is there anything happening over the summer? In the years, I've lived in Ottawa I've never seen a magic show - save when Copperfield came to the NAC last year.

Ross,

Since Copperfield was in Ottawa, you missed out on:

- a show by The Amazing Kreskin;
- a show by Marc Salem;
- a lecture by David Stone from France;
- a workshop and lecture by Darwin Ortiz;
- a workshop and lecture by Alan Ackerman;
- a lecture by Shoot Ogawa;
- a lecture on restaurant magic by Denis St-Jean and Jean-Luc Dupont;
- a lecture by Pat Page;
- a lecture by Jay Sankey;
- and a few other great lecturers that I cannot recall at the present time.

And don't forget every Sunday night there is restaurant magic at the Au Vieux Duluth in Gatineau.

There is a lot happening in Ottawa, you just have to know where to look.

WOW!

Thanks. I had no idea. I've ben missing WAY TOO much that's locally happening!

I am VERY glad you are filling me in. Thanks.

Now comes the BIG question...is there a mailing list or any suggestions to how to keep informed of these goings on? (I feel like I've lived in a cave now that I realize that there's so much more here than I though)

The best way to stay informed on what is happening in Ottawa is to join the IBM Ring 151.
