Anyone from New England heading to the Genii Bash

Postby Tom Gilbert » March 18th, 2012, 10:09 am

I'm trying to convince myself to head down, but really need to split the room cost.

Tom, we might be able to hook you up with someone to split the room cost.
Would you like us to investigate?

I'd join you Tom, but it is hard to justify playing when I should be working (which is something my wife is wont to say)... Maybe I need a push!

All work and no play makes Andrew a dull boy. :)

It's like he knows me! Besides, with the Yankee Gathering following the Genii convention I will likely have my hands full of volunteer work...

We'll see...

Starting to shape up as an event that anyone posting here would regret not attending.

No haven't found anyone but also learned that hotel is full, so
since I haven't registered yet, will lean to not attending.

The Hampton Inn is a 2-block 10 minute walk from our convention hotel and I'm pretty sure you'll be comfortable there.

Would my Troublewit compilation do the trick? I keep tinkering with it but it really should be finished by then and I could offset the cost of the flight against the postage I would save by delivering it in person. (BTW, did you get my last e-mail about Crailsheim?)

Actually I'm not at all sure I can make it to the Genii convention, though it's extremely tempting...

It would help! (Although I have responsibilities with the Yankee Gathering and The Yankee Magic Collector 15 plus booked performances that mean it is definitely not going to happen for me)... Headed out the door for another recreation program in the next half hour (did get the email though, much appreciation for that)!

Andrew! The Yankee Gathering takes place a month later. That's not an excuse. :)

Ah, but you don't know the specific publishing tasks I usually have to deal with in the month prior to the event (although you certainly do know the challenges of getting a publication out on time and with great content)...

Alas, for the lowly professional performer, often the performances must come first (better to make a few thousands dollars to feed your family, pay the mortgage and put clothes on your child's back then spend that money on personal pleasures). Although I could certainly write off the trip, I haven't gotten to that point in my life yet where I don't feel guilty not putting my family first ;O)

If I was working the convention and had much more than troublewit and La Maggiore shells to sell I could make a better argument... Also, October is one of the prime months for mystery performers in terms of demand for shows...

I'll be there in spirit and I'm sure I will be kicking myself every day... Just have to spend some quality time in the magic library when I'm not a slave to the computer or out performing...

It looks like an amazing, not-to-be-missed convention and I urge anyone who can attend, do so!

Andrew, I know better than anyone the time required for the tasks you speak of (except being a "lowly performer").

You have no excuse and have been so marked! :)
