I don't remember that from the February issue. Do you mean the March issue? However, I know about www.googlefight.com.

Richard Kaufman beat Alain Roy. 253,000 to 163,000. However, if I put the names in quotes, thereby restricting it to web pages with those names exactly on them (as opposed to Richard and Kaufman both appearing on the page), then I win: 2,790 to 2,760.

They put Genii magazine against Magic Magazine and found that Magic magazine won 1,210,080 to 41,100. Is this really fair considering that Magic Magazine could be a generic term. I did my own googlefight and found that there were 274,000 hits for Magic Magazine sucks compared to only 511 for Genii Magazine sucks. I wonder if they will print that one on the Just For Grins page.

I did a search on "MAGIC Magazine" and "Genii Magazine" and on the first page of MAGIC's results was a link to "Club 71, Britain's most loved Magic Magazine" as well as the "Hans Klok Magic Magazine" and "IMS magic magazine for members only." Two links for "Animation World Network" also showed up for no apparent reason.
Oh, there was also a link for "watercolor magic" magazine.

An exact phrase search for "Richard Kaufman" turned up 2760 hits compared to 1970 for "Stan Allen."

"magicmagazine.com" got 83 hits.
"geniimagazine.com" got 197 hits.

It seems that playing "Fast & Loose" with the facts does not bother the folks over at MAGIC one little bit. After all, what they printed was not a lie, just a nice, fluffy piece of spin. They really do like to pattern themselves after certain mainstream magazines. According to their logic, they are also "bigger" than Newsweek (550,000 hits). Their obsession with how much bigger they are than Genii makes me wonder if they are also in the habit of carrying rulers into men's public restrooms in an effort to start a measuring contest. As usual, it comes down to an argument between Quality (53,400,000 hits) vs. Quantity (11,400,000).

And the winner is...

RICHARD KAUFMAN with 2,760 trounces Busby with a lowly 995.

However "Jeff Busby" still holds an edge over "Paul Fox Cups" which got only 63 results.

Room for improvement on the LINKS front...

According to Google, there are some 86 web sites (49 of which are displayed) that have on their pages a link to the Genii site. However, there are apparently some 190 sites (89 of which are displayed) that link to Magic Magazine.

Getting as many related sites as possible to link to you always helps achieve the best search engine listings.
