Very cool! Except for counting the cards, which was interminable and unnecessary.

yes. BUT:

I found it interesting that to him it was important to do this. laypeople (even lay people who know a trick or two) have different values. he clearly thought it an important fact to communicate.

Perhaps we should address that to? as I think about It I often here lay people ask if they are all there. Some tricks invite the explanation of a duplicate card. but it seems a question that lay people worry about when they open a deck - are they all there?

Obviously, counting them kills the energy. What if in a previous trick you handed the deck to someone to count?

would that change the impact of some tricks with a lay audience?

if so what kinds of tricks? pick a card tricks? tricks where cards change? tricks where cards vanish from the deck?

would almost justify the counting to have a call back at the end.where a card is shown missing. or would it?

I agree it did not carry well on film, was unneeded in this type of trick, and would be boring live, but when he did it something about it made sense.

or do I need to put down the bottle?
