As part of the "Beyond Brookledge" event last summer, Mike Caveney did a terrific talk on spooky/gruesome/weird/tragic stories about magicians and he, of course, included this bizarre story. He told me he has no plans of giving the talk again, but I hope he was just being cagey and will spring it on the magic world at large.

Reminds of an expression (in Russian) I learned when I studied/lived in Russia many years ago:
"According to the autopsy, the cause of death was the autopsy."
(Gotta love Russian dark humor! Another expression I liked was "The autopsy will show"--e.g., if someone asks for what you think about something, e.g., "How was the potato soup?", the invariable answer is "The autopsy will show...")

You should see the photo of Bishop (post mortem) and his mother... Deliciously creepy. She testified to Congress about his death and wrote a book about it (very hard to find)....
