Google Books has recently digitized a run of New Scientist magazine. This 1974 investigation of Uri Geller may be of interest, along with this 1977 article, or this 1963 article.
Along the same lines is this about fake perpetual motion machines (money quote: "My strongest conclusion is that engineers and scientists are remarkably gullible, and easily taken in by conjuring tricks."
