Is there some reason it's okay to encourage folks who don't know better to parody Wicca here? :(

What excatly are you refering to? The pentagram? It's a ocult symbol that is used more widely than in Wicca. The Snakes are actually really Voodoo symbols.

If I hurt your religious feelings I'm sorry, but most bizarre Magick could be seen as a parody on ocult religions.

And with those words you have shown sufficient reason to stop.

Just how wise does it make us seem to go about disrespecting people's religions?

If you want respect, be respectful.

I don't know how he did it, but Teller came up with a great-looking floating dagger in midair, in his play Macbeth. You can see it on the DVD that accompanies the Folger Shakespeare Library edition of Macbeth (only $16 or less!).

As it happens, that dagger is an image in the mirror - a dagger of the mind. There's some other impressive magical moments in the production. It was well worth the drive down to south NJ to see it live and I'm glad the DVD is out (and so reasonably priced) at Amazon.com

Unless, of course, you are disrespecting Voodoo.

If Criss wants to cruise on a bone shrine... that's up to him. What the Loas and those who practice Voodoo feel about it is up to them. If he wants to practice Voodoo making offerings at crossroads on his portable shrine... that might work out well.

I don't think Bizarre magic is poking fun at any religion. It tells stories - some that have supernatural ramifications. To accuse bizarre magic of "making fun" of religion would be the same as to accuse any movie, book, poem or whatever that address supernatural themes of the same crime.

Your knife would be well received in the props discussion at http://www.bizarremagic.net

And for what's worth, I think "parody" is a misplaced word in this discussion, it implies humor, which is sadly lacking in much of bizarre magic.

Gordon, it's humor at the expense of the religious practice of others by way of trivialization and disrespect. For example: showing a crucifix on one side of the table and a cross on the other - covering both - waving a wand (or other cue) and then revealing the figure of Jesus had traveled from one cross to the other - Simply disrespectful IMHO. With Easter here in a few days - consider the follow up trick of attempting a repeat but finding the figure missing from both crosses - then having an egg selected and the figure found within.

let's not encourage folks to disrespect the iconography of other people's faiths.

A better choice of word might would be mockery. But I am not sure use of such a prop always implies mockery. It may be an attempt to honor such a belief system, as "gospel magic" honors it's religious context. More to the point, such use is not automatically neutral merely because you are merely aiming at exotica.
