Harry Anderson

Discussions of new films, books, television shows, and media indirectly related to magic and magicians. For example, there may be a book on mnemonics or theatrical technique we should know or at least know about.

Harry Anderson

Postby P.T.Widdle » January 6th, 2016, 8:28 am

I just read a great little interview with Harry Anderson in Judd Apatow's new book, "Sick In The Head." It was conducted in 1983, a month before Night Court premiered, and it contains a shocking fact about his personal life.

Will Harry Anderson be returning to the pages of Genii?

So why aren't you telling us what the "shocking fact" is? You clearly want us to know but you don't want to seem to be the person who is doing the gossiping. You want it to come out in the conversation.

You merely want to load the gun and let others fire it. Tut, tut, dearie me.

If Harry wants to do an interview with Genii Magazine to talk about his mother and some of the circumstances where he learned some tricks ... that's up to him.

Whatever it is that motivates you to go gossiping about other people's lives, even at one remove is ... let's keep that your secret, okay?

I don't have to buy books on "Sick in the Head". I merely have to visit magic forums. Furthermore I know perfectly well that you don't give a stuff if the gentleman in question is going to return to the Genii magazine.

You just said that for a bit of misdirection to distract us from your great wickedness in trying to start some juicy gossip but not appearing to come from you but from someone else.

I am psychic and know these things.

I would love to see Harry return to Genii for the magic. Nothing else.

The interview in Apatow's book is interesting, along with all the others. Merely mentioning there is a shocking personal fact in it is not gossiping - Speculating that it has to do with his mother is. Nicely done, Jonathan.

perhaps some of us have a different opinion of what qualifies as 'shocking'.

Exposure. You. Motivated by?

Here's your OP minus its magician/secrets/exposure symptoms:

Thanks for pointing out the book. I'd also like to see more from Harry Anderson in Genii.

You're right. I probably could have left out that part. No offense intended to Anderson.

I read the interview and I didn't see anything particularly shocking. His mother was a hooker and he used to scam people on the street doing the three shell game. So what?

Poor old Widdle has led a sheltered life if he thinks that is anything special. The poor chap would have heart failure if he had seen some of things I have seen and done.

The book also has a fascinating interview with Steve Martin.

Harry has included sketch bits about his parents larceny for decades now.
Perhaps you thought he was kidding?

The larceny was not what I was referring to, but Jonathan's right, it's not something that needs to be mentioned again (classy move, performer).

I hope to see a column in Genii once again someday.

what the hell are you going on about, Widdle?

It's classy to allude to it, but not to outright state it?

All of this really being moot as it is information willfully provided by Harry himself.

Sometimes it seems like you just want to try to poke people.

As I already stated. He loaded the gun and wanted someone else to fire it. That is why he posted this in the first place. Therefore I fired it just as he wanted. And now he is complaining and trying to look innocent.

Anyway, there is no secret. It is publicly available in a book for all to see. Again, so what?
