Dick Cavett on James Galdolfini

Discussions of new films, books, television shows, and media indirectly related to magic and magicians. For example, there may be a book on mnemonics or theatrical technique we should know or at least know about.

Dick Cavett on James Galdolfini

Postby Doug Thornton » July 13th, 2013, 8:11 pm

Dick Cavett's tribute to actor James Gandolfini. The title, "Good Night, Sweet Soprano". Mr. Cavett shares a story that relates to our world of "stunts" and, well, this quote should whet your appetite to read the brief article:

"I hadn’t noticed Gandolfini passing by. 'Did I hear you say you can’t be lifted if you don’t want to be?' he asked, politely, but brimming with skepticism. I admitted as much."

Never watched The Sopranos (but after hearing all the accolades about Gandolfini's performance I am tempted). Only saw him, sadly, in Burt Wonderturd.

The first thing I saw him in that I noticed his performance was "True Romance". He had a small part, but completely owned the screen while he was on it.

Don't miss The Mexican. He steals the show from Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts.

If you only slightly liked "The Godfather" or Martin Scorsese's gangster films, you will get hooked on "The Sopranos". But resist, Richard! You have books to write...
(The Writers Guild of America voted "The Sopranos" the best-written TV series of all time...)
Resist.
