Niagara Falls have been challenged by David Copperfield, The Amazing Randi and countless guys in wooden barrels. There's a one-hour special about stunts at 8pm, then the main attraction is from 9 - 11pm. ABC TV. Apparently, a live show. Best of luck to Nik Wallenda !

I remember watching his grandfather Karl Wallenda fall to his death years ago. I think he bounced off the top of a Volkswagen Beetle on the way down. Terrible.

Although it takes away some of the drama, Nik Wallenda will use a safety tether.

Is the scarcity of live, network broadcasting (compared with taped, edited programs) what prevents magic and the related lively arts from working as well on TV? Or is being there in person truly irreplaceable?
Cheers,
Vince

Nik Wallenda - 2" wire and safety harness.
Philippe Petit - 3/4" wire, no safety, and he repeatedly danced, laid down, kneeled, saluted, sung, talked to seagulls AND walked back and forth between the two World Trade Towers in New York a half a dozen times.
"Man on a Wire" is the Academy Award winning movie about Petit's walk, everything you need to know about walking the wire is in that movie.
Nik is a brave showman upholding his families name, but he's no Philippe Petit.
