The Unmasking of Bill Malone

Postby erdnasephile » June 18th, 2017, 8:50 pm

I just wanted to comment on this article in the latest Genii (July, 2017).

Just an absolutely wonderful article---the writing (by Charlie Frye) was insightful, detailed, witty, and with a point of view. None other than Steve Forte chipped in some hilarious personal remembrances as well. But the part that I really impressed me was the terrific layout and art direction of this article. Rather than graphics for graphics sake, the article was laid out in an organized, striking way that truly added to the reading experience. I found myself drawn in and just loved the use of vintage photos that helped tell the story. The whole thing was so professionally done. Kudos to Ms. Kaufman, Mr. Frye, RK, Dustin, Mr. Lovick, and everyone else involved! Great work! :D

Another great issue.

I notice that there is no "Speaking of Max" audio column, but there is one from John Lovick. Will Max be back (and if so, can John stick around, too?)

I did read it.

Just not closely enough.

Max did a wonderful job. I'm sure John will continue the tradition.

So how come Bill got to read the July issue before anyone else?

Now that it is online I've had a quick browse. When I saw the review of Magicians In Action, I first thought it was about magicians in the armed services. It isn't.

I didn't go looking for it until I saw Erdnasephile's post. So I didn't get to read it before anyone else.

There's a flaw in our system that allows users of one type of device to get in there before an issue is finished (before I've added the audio and video) and we officially go live. That will shortly be fixed.

The flaw in the system is what I have been complaining about.
I purchase Genii religiously every month from my local magic shop.
Why do I not have access to all of the goodies?
