Mr Clean Magic sponge

Postby Hugh Castell » December 18th, 2015, 3:30 pm

Months ago a coin trick using a Mr Clean Magic sponge was published in Genii. I think??? I save my issues of Genii, but now can't find the trick and Richard does not remember the trick. Maybe it was in a different magazine. Help! Does anyone know where this effect appeared?

You are probably thinking of Magic Eraser by Jonathan Friedman. It's published in his book 'The 80s Called...They want their magic book back'.

Although I wrote up one of Jonathan's effects for Magicana, a more extensive collection appeared in Magic a while back; I'm fairly sure it will have been in that.

You should get the book, though.

On a side note, you might find useful the following database, which indexes all the Genii Magazine issues starting from 1999 (the Kaufman era ones):

Just type "Jonathan Friedman" in the Person field and you'll get three references: two tricks in Magicana and one book (the one Ian pointed out) review.

And for indexes going back even further, try Magicpedia which has indexes to many Genii issue also. Just add the phrase "category:genii" to your search term:

Share your knowledge on the MagicPedia wiki.
