Shuffle Tracking

A place where beginners can participate, ask questions, and post their views. However, beginners typically ask a lot of questions about sources, tricks, books, and so on. In fact, all magicians are interested (or should be) in the provenance of tricks, ideas, and related matters. This department will service these needs.

Shuffle Tracking

Back in Sept. of 2000, Persi Diaconis did a lecture for the Hewlett-Packard Science Lecture Series in Bristol. Fortunately the lecture was recorded and is available for free from the HP website upon request in DVD format by contacting the webmaster.

Diaconis begins the lecture with a the tossed-out deck to illustrate his related talk. Clips of it can be found in the link provided below.

My question is: What is the name of the false shuffle and cut he uses prior to tossing the deck out to the crowd? Is this the one that can be found in the Vernon Chronicles?

Never mind, I think I just answered by own question. It's in the Vernon Chronicles Vol. 3.

It's a Vernon Variation on a dove-tail false shuffle found in Henry Hay's The Amateur Magician's Handbook .
