Larry Jennings' Chop Cup
Larry Jennings' Chop Cup
I've been looking for Larry Jennings Chop Cup routine. I thought it was printed in Genii sometime back in the '60s but am unable to locate it.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: Larry Jennings' Chop Cup
Thank you Mr. Kaufman,
I did just that but I'm probably not using the search correctly. I was just having trouble narrowing it down. There is one mention of it being March 1965 but I didn't see it in that issue. There is also a mention in October of 1965 (Intermission) that people really enjoyed the routine so I'm assuming it's in between there somewhere, but a lot of page flipping didn't turn it up. I'm sure I just missed it.
I'll try again later when I have some time.
Thanks,
Phil

I entered jennings chop cup and it found the exact page, immediately. Good luck, great routine. Then study the Ron Wilson version and you'll fool people who have read only the Jennings writeup.

Steve, if your audience can suss the Jennings routine they are not so likely to be mystified by another chop cup routine.
Then again you've likely read the response when I suggested using chop mechanics in the Ramsay routine. ;)

I also like the Roth routine. That's from his first lecture in 1976. It takes some cues from the Jennings routine.

Mr. Bryant,
Wow, not even a clue for me. That's OK I found it, my original problem was not putting my search in quotes and I got lost in the hits.
For anyone searching in the future, coming upon this post, The Larry Jennings Chop Cup Routine can be found in Vol. 29 p 373 ( That correlates to March 1965),
Back to Mr. Bryant, if you are talking about The Uncanny Chop Cup in the book The Uncanny Scot, you are exactly right, that is a wonderful routine. Skimming the Jennings' version I can already see similarities, I can't wait to really compare the two. They both look great. That book, The Uncanny Scot, is one of the best magic books I've gotten in the last 25 years, I just love it!
Thanks for the input.

Jim Swain presents his routine as an homage to Jennings.
I reread Roth's routine, but with respect, I think the similarities to the Jennings routine are more subtle than in the other routines named in the thread.

The Jennings routine is based on Ron Wilson's, so paternity should always be recognized in that order.

This road has been traveled before right here, but I'm too lazy to search for it. Jennings credited "Mr. Ron Wilson" for inspiring his own routine in Larry Jennings on Card & Coin Handling, a J__f B___y Enterprises Publication.
