Does someone know who wrote Howard Thurston's card tricks?

A place where beginners can participate, ask questions, and post their views. However, beginners typically ask a lot of questions about sources, tricks, books, and so on. In fact, all magicians are interested (or should be) in the provenance of tricks, ideas, and related matters. This department will service these needs.

Hi Mr Maven,
I am talking of Howard Thurston's Card Tricks published in 1901.
At that time Mr Gibson was 4 years old.
Mr Gibson wrote 200 Tricks You can do and 200 More Tricks you can do.
So who wrote Howard Thurston's Card Tricks?

Jim Steinmeyer tells me that it was almost certainly Bill Hilliar (the original editor of The Sphinx).

Hi Richard,
Thank you for asking Mr Steinmeyer.
I also read on Magic Pedia about Modern Magician's Hand Book that the material for the book "was taken from Downs, his book for Thurston, Hoffmann's Modern Magic (1876), More Magic (1890), Roterberg's New Era Card Tricks (1897) and material from Selbit's recently published book with the same name" I suppose that "his book for Thurston" was indeed Howard Thurston's Card Tricks.

Sorry, I'm traveling in Europe, hence far away from my library, so I misunderstood which book you meant.
