Paul Curry Effect....

In the book Paul Curry Presents, he included a routine called, I think, A Swindle of Sorts. (Please don't hold me to the title.) I recall the routine, but I can't recall the mechanics of it.

Does anyone have a copy of the book (pamphlet, actually) they'd be willing to sell me OR does that routine appear anywhere else in print. If I recall correctly ( I really should start using IIRC since, at my age I'm using that darn phrase more and more) the pamphlet had a red cover.

Sorry for the sketchy details, but thats about all I can remember.

Thanks for any help...

Adrian

It is called "A Swindle of Sorts" and you'll find that in Paul's book, "Worlds Beyond."

By the way, instead of looking through my library to fond the answer, I cheated and here's where: http://themagicfiles.com/contents.php?id=31

Adrian,

The Paul Curry Presents is a 107 page book (with a red cover) and "A Swindle of Sorts" is on page 7. First printing was June 1974.

Herb Zarrow also has a nice version of this trick in print.

Sorry, but I am not interested in selling.

And to stir the waters a little more, Bruce Berstein has some interesting work on it one of his lecture notes. The name of the notes escapes me, but if he lectures in your area, look him up and I'm sure he'll oblige by selling you the notes.

There are also a couple of effects using the same idea in Paul Curry's "Special Effects", which are not included in "Worlds Beyond". Unfortunately "Special Effects" seems to be equally hard to find.

"Special Effects" was the first thing I ever purchased with Curry's name on it. It remains one of my favorite books in magic.
