Inventor of prediction method?

Postby Bob Farmer » September 9th, 2023, 6:32 pm

I have a vague recollection of seeing this method diagrammed in a book with 8 or 9 cards. It could have been a British invention.

Here's a short version of the method.

You have say, four cards. Each card has a numbered list from 1 to 4.

The first card has the force item at number 1 and null items at the other numbers.

The second card has the force item at number 2.

The third card has the force item at number 3.

The fourth card has the force item at number 4.

They pick a number from 1 to 4 and you bring out the card you need to force the item.

Harry Anderson used a more sophisticated version of this with his book Practical Magic.

It is not exactly what you're asking for, but it seems related to Stewart James's "Half and Half".

Tom Stone has unearthed the answer. Turns out I already asked the question and forgot the answer.
