This or That style routine? Suggestions?

Postby Head Games » July 30th, 2016, 5:28 pm

Hey there! I was watching a derren brown episode where he does a YES or NO style routine using some business cards with the words written on them and asks someone (Whoever the celeb was, I cant recall his name) and asks him to try and figure out which card he has set on the table.

Edit: Here is the routine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fs2_qU6pZfQ

I am sure this is his own twist on a marketed method, routine, or other. But it falls along the lines of what I was talking about with some friends last night at a jam regarding a Which Hand routine ( Tequilla Hustler to be exact) from a presentational aspect of being able to go so many directions with it makes it super desirable to me.

So, Is there any work out there that someone could point me to so I can learn a "this or that" style routine like Derren did? I would appreciate it. I doubt that exact routine is marketed, but if there is something similar, or a method in someone's work that discusses the same type of plot, that's what I am looking for.

Let me know!

Thanks :)

I think what you're talking about is Descisions yes/no. Came out a while ago and now re-released.

You might have fun with the Hug/Kill gag.

Hug/Kill is Tom Stone's routine, which has been popularized by Rob Zabrecky.

I don't know if this will help you but Ricky Jay does a card routine where he puts out a row of cards horizontally and asks if they want to use the card from one end or the other and then the one not picked gets discarded. I think that is what happens. Ends up with a winning poker hand I think. I remember wondering if 10-card deal was actually better. Up to you. Hope this helps you. Regards Gregg Webb

I think you make reference of No-Jonah Poker by Jon Racherbaumer.

See his ebook Jonah Ploys (2010)
