I will be spending a month in Tuscany this June.
Can anyone give me some contacts or information on the magic scene in Italy?

If you're able to get up to Milan, Shaun Yee's shop is worth visiting.

It's a bit expensive for imported (American) products, but that's fairly normal for European magic shops and he does also sell a lot of things which he makes himself and which you may not find elsewhere.

Hi,
in Rome the best place to buy magic stuff is laportamagica (the magic door) see www.laportamagica.it
The owner ( Flavio Desideri) is a very nice guy and Rome is, without any doubt, a magical town ( not only during the summer)

Don't hesitate to contact me if you need further assistance

Having just been to Rome I can assure any magician-visitor to definitely seek out Flavio's shop (where the hard-to-get is often easy to find) and Flavio carries on the terrific tradition of his father by focussing on literature.

His shop is also a nexus to what's happening in Roma Magic.

I love Italy and its serious, spirited, and fun-loving magicians.

Onward...

A question for Mr. Racherbaumer:

On the La Porta Magica website there is a book in Italian called "Appunti italiani" by your good self. Is this a translation of one of your books, or is it a new compilation? There are also quite a few Italian translations of Marlo books that I wasn't aware of.

Thank you for the link, Fabio. It looks like a good place.

Answer re Italian book: This is a version of a lecture I delivered in San Martino a few years ago. I don't think there was anything new from old English books...

The magicians from Florence are phenomenal--well-read, serious, practiced, and fun-loving...

Onward,

Rome is not in Tuscany.

Firenze? One of my favorite places in the world, next to Venice and Ireland!

Best steaks in Europe at Trattoria Sostanza. Small place FABULOUS FOOD... cooked on an old wood burning stove!

We have rented villas just outside the city a couple of times and love the area. Took a cooking class there too!

Never did think about magic tho... next time!

Thanks, I'll be sure to check it out if I manage to get down there.
