Best place to buy OOP Magic Books

Hi Guys,

After a while searching the net for OOP Card magic books i thought i would run it past you all and ask where is the best place to track down rare magic books? I know eBay is a good place to start but just wondered if you have any suggestions?

Amazon of course has many, but I find the prices to be rather high though good bargains occasionally show up.

H&R Magic Books has a lot of books.

I don't buy many "high end" books, but the ones I get tend to come from either ebay, H&E auctions, P&P auctions, or just paying attention to people who list on here and the Cafe. I recently got a copy of the Berg book at what I thought was a good price, and earlier this year I found a 2nd edition Edwin Sachs (which has the most attractive cover, I think). Both were on ebay.

I think H & R is where I typically start, but if you really need a hard to find book, I would suggest tryiing:

In the UK there are four main used magic dealers. One of them, Peter Diamond does not have a website and deals mainly in used magic.

The one place I've never had much luck in finding worthwhile magic books has been in thrift shops. The closest I've gotten was a copy of "Marlo without Tears" for around $15 and Steve Forte's "Casino Game Protection" for $40 (albeit in poor shape).

I am with you regarding thrift shops, i have never had any luck. I am actually looking for a copy of Steve Fortes Casino Game Protection but not sure if im willing to pay the $455 asking price on eBay although it is a signed copy.

I sell Antique books for a living but never dealt in magic books. I have been out of the loop for many years. I got into magic at the age of 12 and my first proper magic book was Cardshark. When i got into my twenties i lost the desire to practice and other things got in the way as i am sure has happened to many of us. I sold all my books many years ago and now at the age of 37 i have caught the bug again and really want to build my library up. As with antiquarian books, magic books are listed on Amazon and Abebooks for unrealistic price's. I remember when Cardshark was a rare book and very hard to find but with the likes of eBay "Rare" books are somewhat easier to find and thus the values drop somewhat.
