FS: A small items, packet tricks and Hardini Nest of Boxes-mint
Posted: October 25th, 2012, 11:06 pm
These were only available in a very limited edition. A very clever version
of the classic effect. Here's the full description:
Hardinis Nest of Boxes is the ultimate way to reproduce a marked coin or a borrowed ring. It is one of the strongest tricks in parlor or stage magic! The ring reappears in the innermost of 5 nesting boxes.
What makes this set so special is the fact that the largest box is locked and needs to be opened with a key. In fact, you can hand a spectator the largest box and key and, from there on, you do not touch anything! The spectator opens the biggest box and finds inside the next size, etc. Each of the smaller size boxes is strapped with rubber bands, which need to be removed before the box can be opened. All this is done by the spectator until, in the last box, he finds the vanished ring or coin.
Remember: All the boxes can be handled and examined as long as the spectator wishes. There are no traps or secret compartments anywhere! After you hand him the largest box and key you can leave the room (if you so choose).
Features:
The set is expertly crafted by Hardini in Germany from fine mahogany woods.
Each polished solid wood box is elegantly lined with rich red velveteen.
The largest box is 5.125 x 5.125 x 3.25;" the smallest box measures 1.75 x 1.75 x 1.125".
The routine can be done with any ring or coin that fits thru the load gimmick. A wedding band works best. Very limited supply.
This set is brand new, complete.

Moments later, a card rises from the deck. Turn the deck over, showing the card which is the one chosen by the first spectator. Reassemble the deck of cards. It cuts itself into two parts. The cut is executed exactly at the second selected card. Insert the cards into the card case and hand everything to a spectator. One card will rise slowly while you are about two meters away. Obviously it is the card selected by the third spectator.

The Age Test Black Hat Magic
This is another one of those interesting items that originally was made by Black Hat Magic in the 1980's and early 90's, and has recently been re-released by Forum Novelties. It is more of a puzzle than a magical effect, but I find it amazing that something like this can be constructed, and find lay audiences also appreciate its ingenuity, even if it is not very magical. The first time I got one of these, back in the 1990's, it came only with japanese (or maybe it was mandarin) instructions. It took me a long time to figure out how it was supposed to work. Lucky for you, it now comes with english instructions
So what does it do? Well, the spectator looks at each card, and places it faceup or facedown in a pile depending on whether they see their age among the numbers shown on the card. When this sortation process is done, the card pile is picked up and turned over to show the spectator's age in a window on the back. This works for any age up to 99. As I said, not very magical, but very mysterious that every possibility can be accounted for. You can add a bit more mystery by not revealing the age number in the window at the back of the pile -- just glimpse it and name their age. But I find that the very fact the correct number comes up for any age is what audiences find most impressive. Try this one as an interlude between more magical effects, and you will be pleasantly surprised how well it goes over with lay audiences. Plays surprisingly well for older kids, too. Easy to do, no memory work, etc.

Webers Key Johnson Precision Magic Products
Michael Weber developed this routine in 1980 when he was regularly using Pressley Guitars version of the Cigarette Through Quarter.
The performer shows a key on the chain of a plastic coin purse. Removing the key from the chain, the performer shows that the hole is too small for anything larger than the point of a pen. Placing the large end of the pen against the hole in the key, the magician causes the pen to pass completely through the tiny hole that is obviously too small to contain it. Removing the pen, the hole is still too small to permit the pen to fit through it. Holding the key flat on his palm, the chain of the key case is touched to the key. The key almost jumps up, linking itself back onto the chain of the coin purse which can be handed to the spectator for a thorough inspection.
Comes with full performance instructions and precision made keys. No longer available.
